Asha Vahishta Seminar/Colloquium: #7

Clash of the Titans, A Battle of the Ages

Ervad Panthaki “v/s” Dr. Panthaki

Now that we have your attention…… actually, no, this will not be set up as a no-holds-barred grudge match between Panthaki senior and junior.

In the manner of an open forum interview, both interlocutors will be seated on stage.

Those who would like to attend are asked to submit questions in advance via email, so that the conversation may develop around those topics.

Continuing with the theme of the last Seminar, this session will display the futility of categories and labels in reference to understanding and reconciling religious perspectives. Because, although differing opinions will undoubtedly be expressed, this session will appear less like a formal, as in politically charged debate between factions. Instead, you are cordially being invited to attend an intimate conversation regarding faith and fellowship between father and son.

The interview/discussion will provide a wide contrast between:

·         generations (age),
·         upbringing (rearing, learned behaviours, adopted norms)
·         locations (birth and residence)
·         schooling (course of study)
·         experiences (maturity)
·         influences (social, intellectual)
·         cultures (ethnic, eras, milieus)
·         sense of self (purpose, responsibilities)
·         desires (expectations)

These determine how, why, and from where answers are produced.

In essence, this session is an investigation of the religious psyche, to discern how opinions are fabricated, how attachments are created, and why it is so difficult to change.
