Dear fellow Zoroastrians,
As we finally approach the start line to commence construction of our new Atashkadeh and future Atash-e-Adaran, hopefully by late fall, we would like to update the community on the status of the project and give you an opportunity to review the final pre-construction plans one final time. The architect will be present to give us an overview of the detailed design. As the community is aware, the membership unanimously approved moving forward with the building of a place of worship subject to all approvals and financing being in place.
Over the past few months, there has been much discussion with the authorities to put the final approval pieces together. We have come to a workable solution with Conservation Halton on the limits of the future stormwater management corridor. This will be drafted in an agreement with the required easements that the town requires. Once all parties have agreed, the rezoning "Hold" provision will be removed on our property. As the membership is aware, Oakville Council unanimously passed a resolution to rezone our property for our specific use, subject to certain conditions with Conservation Halton being met. This has been the focus of our discussions and negotiations over the past year which we have successfully accomplished.
As part of the normal municipal construction approvals process, we submitted the application for Site Plan Approval and expect to go back and forth with the authorities with meetings and information exchange over the next four months. This includes all on-site requirements such as fire pond, water/wastewater supply, stormwater pond, landscaping, parking lot enlargement, lighting, wheel chair access and electric vehicle charging stations. Once Site Plan Approval is obtained, we will apply for building permit which is a 30-45 days process and then begin construction. Construction period is expected to be approximately 12 months.
This is an exciting time for Zoroastrians everywhere as we embark on this mission to preserve the past and build our future. Please join the Place of Worship Advisory Committee (PWAC) at this informative meeting to ask any questions and review the plans.
We look forward to seeing everyone there and it would be helpful if you can inform us of your attendance so we can plan the proper number for lunch. Please R.S.V.P Jeroo Madan at (647)-339-0052 or email: jeroomadan@ozcf.com
May Ahura Mazda always bless our community.
Phil Sidhwa,
On behalf of PWAC
